    Nick's Canon flash "tutorial"

I like to start every flash endeavor with a prayer to the Canon flash gods for a successful project. They can be angry unpredictable gods so sometimes I will sacrifice a bottle of beer to the depths of my belly first.

Then I take my flash out, put it on top of my camera, make sure it's in ETTL mode, swivel the flash away from my subject and fire.

If I'm using two flashes, I make sure to point both flashes away from my subject and then fire.

The most important step is the first one.

    Two flashes....

    One flashes not pointed away!

    One flashes pointed away!

This is more like it. Might want to specify that "pointed away" means bounced - off a wall or ceiling or some such large, neutral-colored (preferably white or silver) surface.

Sorry, no PayPal donation from me.

PS: That palm tree looks suspiciously phallic.
    Ouch.

One problem with your pictures: you have the Les Mis soundtrack and Micheal Buble in the same shot as Lou Reed and The Misfits. I think that can cause your camera sensor to catch fire. (But the flames will be 1.6 x the size of the flames of a full frame sensor.)

And is it true that Japanese beer is more compatible with Canon flashes?

What you say is true! notice the red tint to the background?!? That is because I pointed the flash towards red curtains and the flash gods turned the light red! but I only pointed the flash on the camera towards the red so only the background turned red.... hmmm, maybe the off camera flash is providing more of the light to over power the flash on the camera!.... through much prayer I may learn the mysteries the gods have created.... and yes, that is very penis shaped.

LOL, I will have to have a controlled experiment with much beer to determine the validity of that hypothesis. Many a beer must be sacrificed!
