A700 Firmware Update
From our friends over at DPREVIEW
http://www.dpreview.com/news/0710/07...nya700firm.asp
Sony has released the first firmware update for its α700 DSLR, improving image sharpness and noise performance as well as tweaking flash performance with non-ADI lenses. Also available are patches for the Alpha's bundled Image Data Converter and Image Data Lightbox software. The update is applicable only to early production cameras with "Ver.1" software which may be checked by pressing the Menu and Display buttons simultaneously.

Updates appreciated
Hey, thanks for the update, Rich
I do believe this will find some use in my system.

Some fine tuning with installation
An important point to this upgrade
One point of the Firmware Ver. 2 install that slipped my notice and that of quite a few others was that to get this firmware download into the A700:
It has to be the ONLY file on the "freshly camera-formatted" piece of memory you load it from.
There can be no other files, images or what-not on the CF or Memory Stick ... otherwise it will not load.
That being said ... let the update begin.
