    Thanks guys.

I won't be accepting that gig in Toronto. The show is on a Tuesday and the band wouldn't be able to pay me for my missed work, but I still think it's pretty cool that they offered. I'm sure there will be more opportunities.

dusty, Are you familiar with the venues in T.O.? I'd love to go down for a weekend and check out some local Toronto live music. I'm just no sure where to go.

    Great shots Nick.

Congrats on the purchase - it seems like the perfect lens for the type of photography that you do. This is one of the lenses that I would love to rent for a week and see what I could do with it.

Thanks again guys! Me a bad influence? just wait until you see my grandparents 50th anniversary shots.... you won't be envious after that!

Those 1/15 were hand held. I couldn't come close to that with my 50mm, partly because of the FL difference and I think the size and weight of the lens is a factor as well. It feels nice in my hands very much like a properly weighted tool.

I'm not familiar with the venues in TO anymore.... Many moons ago I spent my nights in the bars and concert halls.

If you are interested, I would suggest checking Eye Weekly. Great Toronto concert listings in there.

    Question SONY A100 w/ SIGMA 30mm f/1.4

    Hey Coldrain,

In contrast to the XT/35mm f/1.4L USM ... What about the SONY A100/SIGMA 30mm f/1.4 EX HSM DC for a truly ambitious low light solution (with IS)?

The SIGMA 30mm f/1.4 is currently running around $380 ... seems that you could even throw in the SONY A100 body with the SIGMA lens for the $1100 the Canon lens alone must cost.

So my question is ... can this SIGMA lens deliver the goods?

Remember: It is usually the GLASS, not the camera (except for moving to Full Frame), that gives you the most improvement in your photography.

Wow, Nick! Between your eye and this lens...a winning combo if there ever was one...

Kills the 50 in my opinion...

    Love this shot...

Don, if you like your borders to be out of the focal plane, it is an ok lens, yes. It does not reach the contrast and colour and overal quality of the 35mm f1.4 L, but it is quite a bargain if you want a low light "standard prime".
Of course, as noted above, you do pay a higher ISO noise penalty with that Sony CCD compared to the Canon CMOS sensors.
