Pioneer Tower at Sunrise

85mm, 1/20s, f11, iso100. Tripod.
I was trying to catch the reflection of the sun in the window panes, but I wasn't up high enough to get what I wanted... and as the sun rose, it lost that great orange glow.
I'm still pretty happy with this shot though.

Michaelb, great shot as always.... Using the ski-tracks as lead in lines really works in the otherwise unbroken snow.

I think Michael has abandoned flickr... I haven't seen a new shot from him there in months (unless he has blocked me, of course!)

Canon EOS 10D with a Sigma 55-200mm DC lens at the San Diego Zoo. I don't know how many of you have ever tried to shoot the Panda's at the SDZ but it can be difficult. They only had the one panda out this day and there are always a lot of people that want to get a view.
You line up at an "entrance" and then are filtered through a viewing line and there is someone there constantly keeping the line moving so that everyone gets a chance. Needless to say I had to move through a line a number of times to try and get some decent shots. You really cannot just linger and take your time - at least you couldn't the day that I was there.
The SDZ does not own these pandas - they pay the Chinese government more than a million dollars a year to house and display them over here in the states. Makes me understand at least partially the large gate price to get in.
Wonderful animals and a baby had been born a few months prior to our visit - we did not get to see the baby however.

Drama; that is an incredible dragonfly photo; love the shallow DOF.
Gary is right; I've moved basically everything to Smugmug; not using Flickr much anymore for photo hosting; although Flickr does have some great communities.
Wonderful lighting in that shot BTW Gary.

nice shot, i think overexposing the whites and underexposing the bottom half of the pic makes this a great shot. not sure if it was intentional or not, but it looks great imo.

Thanks Rooz - it was semi-intentional at least - shooting pandas (that are naturally black and white) in an enclosure that has both bright sun and shady areas all over the place was an exposure nightmare! It was very tough to try and find the right balance.
Thanks again for the comments.

Drama; I forgot to ask - what lens did you use for that Dragonfly shot?
