Thanks for your compliments. I took the picture from the top of the Wendelstein shortly after the clouds released their hold of it. Being the only one up there at that time, I basically "owned" that mountaintop. I will post some more pics in my winter-thread later on (as soon as I find the time to do so that is).

This didn't help me very much, I had to Google it...

"The Wendelstein Observatory is situated on the summit of Mount Wendelstein, a prominent, 1848 m high mountain in the bavarian Alpes. It is operated by the Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics of the University of Munich."

Did you use a filter or anything to get the sun to become a star shape like that?

njoy_az used an aperture of f/20. Such a small aperture will automatically create those "star-shapes" from any bright light source -- the sun, moon, streetlights, Christmas lights, etc. Great shot!
