Michael, really nice cold shots. How cold was it for that frozen stream?

Shoey, I love the ship, really interested in lighting info too.

My sister-in-law is the baton twirler on the left for NCSU. They needed to get some pictures made to hand out for an event, and couldn't get up with the official photog, so I did this one in a hurry for them. It was in the 30s and windy, and I didn't have an extra set of hands, so it was tough to pull off. Girls were cold, lighting had to be pretty limited. We found the right spot to shoot, set up lights, posed, and finished all in about 20 minutes. A Vivitar 285 thru a white umbrella is camera left, and my Cactus V4 triggers bailed out on me, so it was done with a PC cord. All things considered, I was fairly pleased.

I was standing on a bridge for that shot. Very cool shot faisal - looks a little hdr-ish.

I really need to experiment more with off camera lighting. Its really such a complex field in and of itself; I often read about it, but I really need to experiment a bit myself. There's a nice lighting sub-forum on POTN; some extremely knowledgable people there.

Caught this little fella soaking up some rare sunshine on a walk though the park.

This is about 30% of the original photo!!!! Love the 18MP on the 7D :0)

I forgot to mention, the bird's eye shot on the other page, had no cropping at all, that's how close I got with the 100mm macro.

Is this (small flashes and studio lighting) the forum you are talking about?
