one of my submissions made it onto the cover of this 160-page book, which is conducted by CBS TV Chicago. There were some 27,800 submissions total, from around 2500 submitters, with the premise to capture the best photos of Chicago, in general - not only limited to architecture or cityscapes. Sounds like this book is pretty nice, not even talking about the cover.
Wait you have the cover and all you get is exposure? but your signature/site isn't even on the cover?
Thats... well.. shitty mate.
I mean kudos to you for getting on the cover, but i think you deserve more then just that.
I sometimes wonder if people are just insecure about their work and feel like any exposure is good exposure, i value my work too much to just throw it around freely, but thats just my way of things i guess.
Why would they put my signature or my site logo on the cover? have you seen any other photo books do that? LOL
The picture wraps around to the back of the book, and my name along with the name of the picture appears there.
This picture sat on my flickr for a year relatively unnoticed, and now it has a purpose. I think I would be a fool to not be grateful and happy about this. If I was a seasoned pro A) I would not have entered something like this and B) then yeah I might feel some negativity about the lack of "real" compensation. But since I'm not, this works for me.
just found out I get a $200 gift card (likely to Amazon). I'll take it!
Cover Shot. The cover shot is hand-picked by our editors. You get something when your shot makes the cover of the book... and we're not just talking about the ego boost. If you are the cover photographer, we'll give you $200 gift card. We also credit you as the photographer on the cover, so the exposure is pretty special!
