Here's a shot a birch tree in the local park. It was taken about 30 minutes before sunset.

any recommendations for a non landscaper to buy a single filter as an all purpose landscape filter? i don't mind getting a square one to hand hold, my biggest lenses are 77mm. i always see some really nice skies out here in texas when i'm leaving work, i wouldn't mind catching them on my camera. i ALWAYS have my tripod in my truck and my camera goes with me everywhere, so there's really no reason why i couldn't take a few on the way home. matter of fact, i can easily see myself setting up the tripod in the bed of my truck to get a higher POV.

    Landing Gear

I'm not sure I can come close to the quality of some of the photos posted recently. I'm not using my camera much these days, so this is the best I have managed: An egret landing at Hunter Wetlands.

Do you have a CP filter Adam? If not, then that's the one to get. I have a Kenko PRO 1 CP (same as the Hoya and cheeper). They screw on - mine is 77mm. (oops, just saw that you have a CP - ignore this. )
    Here's where I got mine....

The other filter to consider is an ND grad filter. If your going to get one get a 2 stop Hitech. They are large and rectangular and you either hand hold them in front of the lens or get a holder....
Here's an ND grad plus a holder for $57 - get the 0.6 hard stop...
