Michael, love your horse image, simply stunning. the only problem that causes me smile is why you decided to cut off her ears and mouth? otherwise brilliant capture and incredible moment. her eyes are telling something i guess.

Totally stoked about going to look3 this weekend. Anybody else going?

This will be my entry for "YourSpace," a Canon sponsored thing where anybody can bring a file and they print out a 16x20 and hang it for the duration of the festival. The theme for this year is "fortune."

BTW, since I will be submitting this tomorrow afternoon, any feedback is very welcome. I probably won't have time to reshoot, but I will have the RAW on my laptop with me.

a few from yesterday, unfortunately nothing exciting this time because weather screwed up the whole plan ... just before the sunset a huge cloud casted the horizon, which was pity... the best shot for me was of the old fisherman.

I think I'll do a post later when I'm back home and have a little time, but look3 is billed as the "festival of the photograph - three days of peace, love, and photography."

It is in the third year (they are going to skip 2010) and is held in Charlottesville, VA. It has a lot in common with a conference, but because it is non-profit, there is a very different feel, more community based. There are three headlining photogs here that do big 2 hour talks, other photogs that do shorter master talks, slideshows of work from a range of photographers, from some of the biggest like Vincent Laforet, to unknowns. They held week long (very not free) workshops in the days prior to the event, and they held free Aperture and Lightroom workshops here.

I got a book signed last night by Martin Parr, who is one of my favorite photogs. David Alan Harvey and Sylvia Plachy are here. Plus many, many other big names. Check out the web site - look3.org.

YourSpace is a small Canon sponsored gallery where anybody that shows up in person can have their image printed off and hung, and is sponsored by Canon. The idea is to democratize things so that you don't have to be a made photog to show something here. Canon does this for free. The whole event is sponsored by the likes of Nat Geo, Apple, and Canon.

Edit: My baby was born in December, this is the cookie that we handed out to people to let them know we were expecting. I feel like my fortune lies in my family, so this seemed like the best idea for the theme.
