I have a serious question.. does this look too bright? not over-exposed, because I don't think it's over-exposed... but is the image too bright? wondering exactly how bad my LCD is.. I know it has deteriorated over the past 2 years considerably, given it's use... well I guess I also want to know what you think about the exposure..

I think it's too bright, nice pic though.

Oh and the two other pics on the previous page are kick ass. I too, hate you.

thanks guys - I have changed a setting lately and am still getting used to it.. I used to always shoot with the flash output (580EX) at -1/3. Not sure exactly why, but that's just how I did it. I think I just preferred it being under-exposed than over, for whatever reason. Now I am keeping that at 0. I have only been doing it this way for the past 3 weeks - having started a regular weekly 2-night gig, I can't do that much processing on my shots anymore - it takes too much time. The only processing on the above shot is WB and some level adjustment - it didn't need much. But, it's a bit tricky to get the angle of the flash head optimal for the shot - it's entirely easy to get it too bright.

Do you use a flash bracket?

no, I don't. I just have it right on the shoe. I have considered off-camera and bracket and all that stuff and I find it less hassling to just use a basic setup. I frequently shoot in cramped places with lots of people and I need my camera's footprint to be as small as possible. And, the 5d with the grip, 580 and 24-70 is not exactly a small setup.
