Heh, it was her idea... she's a strange one. You should know that because she's a Nikon user.

1/5 f9 at ISO 100. I sat waiting for the light to peak over the cliff for about 2 hours before it got ideal, and it only lasted 15 mins.

That kit lens is a lot better than people give it credit for. I was reading in a photography magazine about a guy that took a picture of a pigeon on the street and it was one of the best pictures I've ever seen.... the bird looked like he was defending his turf from the photographer (it was down at the birds level" and he shot it with the kit lens! I was shocked. Some of my best shots are from the kit...

01514.....If my kit lens wasn't partially spoiled I would have tried to get similar results from it....that picture surely shows how capable the kit lens is....what was the setting on that shot....

Here's a picture of a few tall buildings...

    50mm, 1/1000, f6.3, ISO 200

the nifty fifty has a slight distortion....hmm...btw just curious if there is any lens without distortion issues for architectural work...??

Those are some wonderful buildings! that distortion you are seeing is from tilting the lens off of the horizon. Tilt shift lenses let you take architectural pictures like the one you posted without the distortion.

Was that from POP Photo magazine by any chance? If so I read that article too. Did you know that he didn't even look through the view finder to compose those shots. He said he just put the camera on the ground, started shooting and hoped for the best.
