I noticed that compared to the 18-300 OS, the 70-300 IS was a lot sharper and and preserved much more detail even when both lenses were at their sweet spot of f/8

Thanks viky...I really like the first front shot of the hawk...its looks like it's looking right back at you...
I'd be surprised if the 18-200mm was better than the 70-300mm...it's a great jack of all trades but gets over shadowed by almost all the lens....it's a ultra zoom P&S shooters dream lens but nothing more...but I'll still recommend it to anyone on a budget and has to deal with my kind of weather i.e lots of dust...
