Zmikers, I am assuming it is a photo of a painting, or is it a sculpture with some texture blending?

It is a very textured painting. There are some "gold" flakes in it and witht the right lighting, it really look cool. In my old house, I had it hung in the living room that catches the evening setting sun. Wow, did it ever look nice then!

LOL, ya the 24-105 is really too soft wide open, but I've been learning to love it stopped down to f/8 or f/10. Really disappointed it without at f/4 though. I always sharpen in photoshop after reducing its size for the web though, but just a touch to bring the sharpness back to where it was at the original size.

I remember as a kid when my brother used to do the "paint by numbers" paintings and the multitude of colours used to look unnatural. Photos like this make you appreciate how nature has no limits with its' colour palette

HG, I agree. Some of the rock formations in that area are pretty crazy. Tons of colors and texture
