there's a few ways to do it, for this one I pasted the color photo into a new layer (in Photoshop) over the B&W one, and then erased everything except the flag.

Love the blue/pink contrast, but I wish that the flower had a little more DOF in focus. I find the slight softness at the center of the bloom itself a little distracting. I think that when it is so well isolated and contrasted against the background that it needs complete sharpness. Probably as the setting really amplifies the brain's focus on the details in the flower.
