A good photograph is knowing where to stand.

Thanks, I really enjoy getting out in the early morning and watching the light change. I had no intention of photographing the river this morning, but when I passed this scene I had to stop. Tough weekend: great fall colors, but nothing but pure bluebird skies. VERY high contrast, tough to capture it all.
I just purchased a 1Ds II recently and I am trying to work out the kinks of using it. I have a bad tendency to overexpose everything with it, I think the meter wants to go there more than I am used to. I have also had a lot of difficulty with noise with it. Expose Right is a necessity with this machine. Trying to capture an underexposed shot for the highlight detail results in all kinds of unwanted noise.

Wonderful scene! I'm headed to the Eastern Sierras this weekend. Hopefully the fall colors show up.
