i like the first portrait better
retains a more natural look, less harsh

I like the first one better too - although the 2nd one has more of an 'art' flair, its almost like a pin-up style. If you want to try something, turn down the red on the 2nd shot by -15 to -20 (in Photoshop). I tried it and I think thats what I like best.

Oh, interesting, i was messing around with desaturation but my time ran out, i think your selective red desaturation looks good, i was going more globally about it so i didn't end up liking the result.
I also prefer it with a -17red now.
This was a 2hr headshot, 1 hr shooting, 1hr edits.
Trying to get consistent, fast, results.
