ok - would be nice to see the image in its full glory I mean, not Photobucket-resized.
Ok, here's another try. I don't think Photobucket is to blame afterall. I think that I'm just to obsessed with sharpening. When I edit RAW with DPP, I have always cranked the RAW sharpening up to 10 regardless. I think that and the fact that this shot is actually a 30% crop is what made the whiskers have the jagged look (maybe some anti-aliasing treatment with Gimp could help)
30% crop with 0 RAW sharpening:
Original image, also 0 sharpening, but those jaggies are still there on the whiskers:
Canon 5D Mark II (Canon 35mm/1.4L | Canon 24-70 f/2.8L | Canon 135mm/2L | 430EX II | Gitzo G1125 + 494RC2)
My dog Seamus is the big Standard poodle on the pillow, my sister's toy Coco is in the foreground, Tulie her small Standard is in the background, and Broghan on the couch.
Broghan is huge! Seamus is 55 lbs, Broghan is 69 lbs, but he doesn't have an ounce of excess fat.
Andrew with his car
f6.3, iso200, 1/125. Shot with two strobes (one on each side of the camera) into umbrellas. Background light splashed across the background to partially blow it out.
This is a lego car that was on Andrew's santa list.... But lucky for him, he got it early for his brithday.
He built it up yesterday and I convinced him to pose for a few pictures that we could send around to the family.
Gear: Canon 60D, Sigma 18-50 f2.8 EX DC Macro, Sigma 50-150 f2.8 EX DC II, Canon 50 f1.8, Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 EX DC, Sigma 120-400 DG OS. 1 430EX, 1 430EXII, 1 580EXII, ST-E2, Manfrotto 190XPROB (soon to be replaced by the carbon version)
Plus filters, wireless triggers and other junk...

hey looks better - but I think you're right, I think it's just difficult to sharpen whiskers you might try one of the sharpening tools (such as Nik) that gives you more control over it, and try to dial back some of the settings such as focus to make the whiskers look less sharpened. Also consider selective sharpening (which Nik also has built-in).
