Michaelb... that tulip shot is awesome! You have now officially convinced me to get the 60macro. I'll send you the bill

    Zooming

    Xti, Sigma 18-50EX, 1/2s, f22, iso100

This is done by zooming while the shutter is open, but the photo reminds me of the feeling of flying down a trail on my mountain bike at full speed... Like the world is racing by and you are just seeing the highlights.

GaryS ... That looks amazing ... I didn't understand what you meant by zooming while the shutter was open? I'm pretty new at all this, so am not sure how one would get a photo to look like that.

Devina, you can only do this technique on a camera that has a manual zoom ring. The cameras that you have listed in your sig won't be able to.

Basically, you get the shot setup on a tripod, making sure that the shutter speed is between 1 sec and .5 seconds (which in daytime means stopping to to f22 or so, plus a low iso... ). Then, trip the shutter and then zoom in or out at the same time.

The effect you get is similar to this (you generally need to take quite a few shots, most of which get deleted) where the centre is fairly sharp, and the edges have the streaking effect.

Ah alright... yeah, even I didn't think I'd be able to get that with my cameras.
    Thank you for explaining
