Long Exposure with a K10D
I have been reading about some amazing pictures people have taken using a long exposure in Bulb mode. Long as in 30 minutes, 6 hours, 12 hours, etc. How do I do that with my K10D?
I took some nice fireworks shots this year with a tripod, cable release and using the bulb mode.
Thanks

What was the longest that you tried in Bulb mode? I don't see a maximum length for the K10d. The maximum for my D50 is 30 minutes. But since you have a tripod, cable release, and bulb mode, I think you have what you need. Click the shutter open with the cable release, and go do something else for a few hours. See if it stays open the whole time, or if it automatically shuts after 30 minutes (or whatever length of time.) Just make sure your battery is fully charged. Those long-exposures really eat up the battery life.

I would just hold the cable release button for however long I wanted the shutter to be open when in bulb mode. When I wanted to close it I would "let go". Sometimes that would be 1 second or 5 seconds for the fireworks.
Thanks for the reply.

If your cable release doesn't support "click it and leave it" you may want to try the rubber-band method. It does work, although it's somewhat inconvenient. Or perhaps there's a remote for the K10?

I do have the remote for the K10D but am not sure what good that would do. Am I missing soemthing?
Thanks for the reply.

Have you tried using the remote when the shutter is on Bulb? The way it works on my D50 is that (if the shutter is on Bulb) when I click the remote, the shutter stays open until I click it again, maximum 30 minutes.

Looking more closely at the cable release I have (Canon RS60-E3) it does have a slider to lock it. So I guess problem solved.
Thanks
