have you tried to use a card reader? this happened to me before on my old canon powershot, the camera said that the card is corrupted. I used my laptop to check the card and i was able to retrieve the all the photos in it. you also might want to try rescuepro or photo rescue.good luck!

    is the lock on?

i actually did this once- i was using two cameras and one card switching back and forth- and in the process, turned the lock/hold on. check and see if that is the case.

if not, take a look at the contacts- are they damaged? if they are broken, the card is gone forever anyways- try plugging it into a card reader and see if it works then

    hope that helps

Check the write protect switch on the side of the card then download some disc recovery software (there is plenty available on the net) and use a card reader on your PC to access the card. The SD card is exactly the same as a hard drive as far as the software is concerned, it's just a device with data on it.
If that does not work it may be that by putting the card in the wrong slot you have zapped it and destroyed it.
Sorry but the moral is to back up regularly don't leave precious data anywhere where it can be lost or destroyed instantly.
