Can't help with Noise Ninja. I didn't like it and the freebie version is fairly heavily crippled.
Being blessed with owning a D50 noise is not much of a problem but I use the free version of Noiseware from Imagenomic whenever I need some assistance in that area.

surely you dont need it for your D80

i have the standalone version....but would have to have it in front of me to give you directions (and i am at work!).

There are specific profiles you need to get for the camera. Is it for your Nikon?

i shot a bunch at iso 1250 and over just as a test to see how much difference NR can make. from my experience in most circumstances, iso1000 and up on the d80 is bin material.

unfortunately not even the d80 is totally perfect.

convert it to b&w and claim it as a "grainy" artistic effect.

to be honest i never take shots at that high an iso.....use a tripod instead (unless its moving).

an open ended question if ever i saw one.

basically x, my results suck. i just need to get some understanding of where all the little sliders are going to get some decent results as a ballpark and then i can fiddle around with it from there.

Maybe post a "how do I..." on there?

Here is a good one for downloading a user guide:

the reason I asked is that the following pic shows what noise ninja will do out the box.

Click on "profile image" then click OK... all done ta da I rarely use it unless I feel like being lazythe next two relavent settings are under the filter tab well at least to me

    USM amount
    USM radius

they primarily control how the mask will effect the picture.
