    Canon 400D manual sensor cleaning

    Hi there.

I have dust on my sensor. Dust delete isn't something I'm interested in and the self-cleaning vibration isn't taking care of the problem.

I've followed the instructions in my manual, but I cannot seem to get the mirror to flip up so I can clean the sensor with a blower.

I was able to do so when I first received the camera, but have not been able to figure out how to do it again... HELP!?

I know there is a little thing that notifies you the mirror will be moving up so you can clean the sensor and you have to permit that to happen

    can anyone help? Please?!

1st make sure the battery if fully charged.
Select in the menu, 5th tab: Sensor cleaning: Manual.
It then tells you to switch the camera off after cleaning it.

    That is about it...

battery is fresh from the charger.
there are only 4 "tabs" not 5..
The 4th "tab" (wrench, hammer, and the #2) has 3 options. The third is a sensor cleaning option. When you choose that option, it only controls the automatic sensor cleaning via shaking. You have the option to enable it/disable it's happening on start up.. there's nothing about the mirror being moved or manual cleaning...

if it were that simple I wouldn't have felt the need to post.

The camera needs to be in the Program (P) shooting mode for the 5th tab to appear!
