Where can I find a 18-200mm VRII?

My local camera store had some a few weeks ago, but alas they are gone now. Where is the best place to find a USA / 5 year warranty one? I'd rather stay away from ebay or used at this point?

Can you wait a bit, or do you have to have one right now? Because that lens is on backorder pretty much everywhere. What many people do is leave their name with a store and you can get a phone call when the lens comes in. You just have to make sure that you go in and buy it right away; if you wait too long, they'll sell it to someone else.

Yes, my local store is saying same thing...but they are a little pricey ($900). Would be nice to find on-line for under $800 if possible.

Watch some of the online dealers. I got mine from B&H. I noticed they had it in stock, so I just grabbed it. Also, check DPreview. Sometimes when people get them in, the post it. Samy's camera is another I heard a few weeks ago had it. The main thing is to keep checking. I read somewhere that you should check at odd times to see if they up date, like early in the morning.

You might have to do used if you want it now and don't want to pay more than $800. I saw a couple on a for sale forum for $750 each. I can PM you the link if you want it.

Thanks for the link and heads up. I was out of town then and missed the opportunity (they are sold out now).

Called my local camera shop and they have FOUR in stock! Just got them in past few days. So put hold on one and took her home this afternoon. So far so good. Noticeably heavier than the 18-135mm kit lens, but that's okay with me.

Did some trial shots with VR on and off. Amazing! I'm going to like this lens! Paid $849, which is a little high, but I've got it, no waiting for UPS to arrive.

It is a great "stick on and forget about it" lens. It shouldn't be your only lens, but it IS extremely versatile, and does have quite a few real advantages... Helluva lens for the price - even for what you paid.

--edit.. I know it isn't your only lens, just put that for other readers.
