Everything I read about DSLRS is directed at Canon or Nikon users. I even have free classes for DSLR since buying my Sony Alpha 100k, but the classes are directed to Canon/Nikon users. All the references are for them. Did I do the right thing buying this Sony????? Waaaaaa

Give the SONY some time ... Canon & Nikon are well established ... and most people really don't appreciate the costs involved until they had serious gotten caught up in it.

With the SONY, you can shoot the very same stuff the C & N can, but at like half the cost. Who's crying now? You are way ahead of the game, but just don't know it, yet.

how is the high ISO performance compared to the XTi or the D40/80?

I just got my A100 on valentines day and I love it. Still trying to work the kinks out, but its fun learning to use a new camera. I'm still frustrated with my night shots because they are all coming out blurry but I'm sure over time it will be ok.

The top four shots were taken, using various zooms and a prime, at the same manual settings:

• 28mm
• f/4.5
• 1/60th sec
• ISO 400

and other than resizing, the JPG is pure

The next two 50mm "PRIME" (fixed focal length lens) shots were taken at the same distance as the 28mm shots, using the same settings as above.

With the 50mm is at the same distance as the 28mm, the image should be and is a bit sharper.

Here's a bonus comparison ... using the same settings on a Canon EOS 20D w/ Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II "PRIME"

I think the 50mm vs 50mm clearly shows that the SONY holds its own against the Canon, so don't be too worried. Just have a drink with the fine gentlemen using alternatives to the SONY and know, your getting the shots, also. You may notice the SONY holds its color spectrum a bit better than the Canon, with the angular light stripe in the upper right hand corner. The Canon-shot tends to wash it out.

This time the "kit" fared a bit better than it had in past tests, so I will refrain from chiding it ... this time. As soon as my new TAMRON AF 18-250mm f/3.5-5.6 XR Di-II LD Asherical (IF) shows up, I will add it to this presentation to see if all the hype of digital coating and improved refraction is true.

Try going to "S" mode

and shooting at either 1/60th or 1/125th sec, max aperture and see if it improves at all.

For a while, I had some blur with a few of my night shots, too ...

I'll see what I can do ... I really hate when that happens, you miss all the important stuff ... the production.

What kind of web browser are you using, by the way? Do you have the latest updates from Microsoft?
