Very nice exposure kNp. Welcome to the DCRP. Nice balance with the earth and sky in that image. Looking forward to more.

    Heelllllp!

Hey guys, got a quick question for you. I'm taking a trip to SE Asia here in a few weeks and I plan on taking a ton of pics. I'm wondering...is there a portable hard drive that I can purchase to upload my S6000FD pics to while I'm there? Is there anything compatible? Any good/bad experiences? Thanks!

Are you going to have a laptop with you? That's the easiest way to go. I don't know of a device that would automatically offload the pictures straight from the camera. (maybe a handheld pda or something if you get the right adapter cable)

If you have access to a computer over there and all you need is a portable hdd I would recommend a Western Digital Passport drive. You will see Mybook drives out there cheaper but they require a separate power cable for the hdd, the passport runs on USB power only so should work anywhere.

There are many portable hard drives that don't need a computer. Here is one of them.

In SE Asia there are computer shops everywhere, save some remotest jungles. The computer shops offer services such as internet, phone, back up photos; etc. I suggest you buy a card reader so you can leave USB cable at home. You can buy the CD/DVD media over there. I would back up 2 identical copies of every CD/DVD just in case.

Ya Tim, $300 for a 80 gig drive is pretty steep but it would work. I actually didn't realize they had these on the market, probably because I usually bring a laptop with me everywhere so I never looked.

I agree they are quite expensive Paul, but just to give OP some options. Personally, with the price of memory cards coming down, I'd buy a few extra and keep shooting until I can upload them at some reliable internet cafe shops.

BTW: I just left my F30 with a repairer for a quote of $150. It has dust on sensor.

I think I have to share this. It's not a crop, again with the +4D close-up filter and full zoom.
