Well, don't point your cameras directly to the sun! That would help .

Star effect can be achieved by decreasing your aperture (higher F number) - in that case, the number of arms shows the F number .

Again, it's normal. I'm not sure about the black bands in the video though
And one recommendation - filters, especially these without antiglare coating, could even worsen the lens flare.

Actually quite nice here today and the weather guys say we could break 70f before the end of the week! In celebration I went down to see how the local wildlife was enjoying the day.

Ya the polarizer really brings out the blue, well worth the investment. Here is a 100% crop. Not as clear as I like but both the bird and I were moving so not too bad all things considered.
