    Dumb reviews on FM sometimes

I was noticing that FM added the 50mm f1.2 to their list, calling for reviews.

I just take issue with these two guys messing up the rating number with an 8 and a 6.

One guy didn't even seem to look at the photos. They seem to complain that 50mm is a bad length for them (well, you can hardly hold that against a lens, idiot) and that it doesn't seem like enough glass. Well sh%t, it's a normal FL lens. Of course there's less glass. Oh, and it's a little slow focusing. Of course, the glass is heavy. Plus; given their other idiot remarks, I'll consider the source and wonder if "slow" isn't just a little bit subjective (as in subject to fibbing a little).

As with the 85 f1.2, it's most likely not tops low-light focusing and only for someone where no expense is to be spared for amazing image quality.

So; this is probably one of the 4 or 5 best short lenses that Canon makes and it currently rates a 7 out of a possible 10?

This entire forum is proof positive, especially the Canon dSLR section.

Are you saying that people who post their opinions in the Canon dslr section are idiots? I know I'm an idiot, but I don't think everyone is......

Lol. Their Canon DSLR section is very strange in which cameras it includes and doesn't include. I'd say more people on FM use the XT than use any other model yet the XT isn't reviewed.

As far as the FM forum is concerned, I have no particular use for it as the contributors spend far too much time mocking each other and fighting amongst themselves than they spend doing anything constructive.

I see on FM too many comments on how great some photos are, even though they are not so great. It's like everyone patting everyone else on the back. I think I see more critical ( and useful) comments on the Canon DSRL site on this forum.

Yes. I agree. The photo competitions are rather strange. The worst photos seem to "win" while the best seem never to be selected as finalists. Having said that, the prizes they give seem to be somewhat strange. I'd rather just have a list of winners then FM upload subscriptions or plugins for photoshop. I don't seem to use PhotoShop much - more often the stuff Canon provided with my camera although I do play around with photoshop elements.
