K1w1 and all the other Aussies in your area, how are you guys doing? Yahoo is reporting 84 dead from these fires at this point.

    Thanks.
I don't think that there are any regulars on this forum who live in the areas immediately affected. As of this moment the death toll is now over 100 with over 800 dwellings destroyed. Both of those numbers will continue to rise.
The area burnt over the weekend amounts to some 330,000 hectares (815,000 acres).
Saturday was a day from hell in this part of the world.

But wow, a 17 degree cool off between Sat and Sunday? Hope this helps you get through these tough times.

In actual fact the temperature on Saturday got to 46C and then dropped to the low 30's in about 20 minutes as a cold front came through at around 5.30pm.
You could feel the temperature dropping.

I spent the weekend around the Singleton area near Newcastle in New South Wales, it averaged 43 degrees potentially upto 45, but luckily where i was was also next to a creek. But i didn't want to risk bringing my D300 out there knowing what the weekend was forecast to be, so unfortunately no photos from me there!
