About the only thing I think I remember about this pic is the aperture, which I believe is 8.0. First semi serious attempt at portrait work which explains the poor background. I've got a 50mm 1.8 on the way so that should make things more fun.

Taken with my D70 and kit lens. Merged 5 exposures together in Photomatix, then PPed in CS3.

More photos and stuff can be seen at my flickr.

Interesting, so you got him to sit still long enough for 5 exposures? That's impressive. Nonetheless, I doubt more than 3 was needed here but nice result.

Yes you're right, glad I dragged the comments out of you now

Seriously though you're absolutely right. An off cam flash to brighten up the tree at the back left would have helped. And she did insist on making tiger claws with no other contextual props.

My latest addition. It was too cold to be outside and very crappy, so I took pics of our Christmas tree ornament. All shots were straights from the camera and just added sharpening and my new logo at the bottom for both.
    C&C are always welcome
    Cheers!
