The Tamron built-in motor is slower than the camera's AF motor.

Guys, if it says internal motor then it will work on the D40/60. Another giveaway is that Tamron has added the AF/MF switch to these lenses, where the original version didn't have one.

i had a look at my lens this morning and there is no "IF" anywhere on it, it does have the AF/MF switch but its definitely screw driven, i would test it on a d40 before buying it if you are wanting AF... like i said earlier, i dont use the AF on it much anyway even for portraits i have been using MF its quite comfortable really \

DPR, ours is definitely the latest 90 btw... no issues there

Then the AF/MF switch addition only applies to the 17-50 f/2.8 I guess. The original did not have it.

Loving my new D200, despite my focusing screen mishap... and the abysmal battery life. Next purchase, MB-D200 grip and two more spare batteries. I do find I get much sharper images than I did with my D80 which makes me

Would you believe this camera only had 91 clicks on it?!? I feel like I robbed somebody, I only paid $650 for it!!
