Not sure how I feel about this one. The background was a bit overexposed, so I added some vignetting in PP (I had a hard time reducing the overexposure of the background without screwing up the subject, I think he turned out well). Its my first time doing so, and I think I went a bit too heavy on the vignetting, but at the same time I wanted to make sure to do enough to darken the background. We'll see, if it bothers me too much I may try it again.
Your subject exposure is spot on. How would you have darkened the background without affecting the subject in cam? Not possible in this instance.
I think you've got it spot on, who cares about the background when you've done all you can to light your subject perfectly.
Love the shot, don't like the vignetting though.

Guess the song at the school musical, bonus points spot the principal.
All done with the wrong lens but I'm still pretty happy. Can't believe my results from iso3200.

Great shot DPR, the exposure is spot on. And very clean image for 3200 and relatively low light. Rooz nice shot and DOF. How are you shooting at 1/640 with flash? Is it on high speed sync?
I put my shot through noise ninja before resizing for posting but really full size was very useable SOOC.
I like the finger as the support for the mantis very much as it gives you a sense of scale. I think I like the finger more as a record/scale than as an artistic backdrop though. No 1 for me you're giving us just the right amount of finger
