herc182 - I shot this in RAW and then brought it into Photoshop. Once in Photoshop, I converted to Greyscale. After conversion, I tweaked the levels a little just to make the blacks a little blacker then added an Unsharp Mask for final sharpening.

Once in a while I upload a photo to the Cameras in Action thread... the latest was not so hot considering the distance I took the photo to capture everyone together, but more of a subject matter photo.

Crosswalk-light close to my house. I like how one of the leaves looks like a heart
All pictures taken with Nikon D80 with either the 18-200VR or the 50mm 1.8, and they've all been slightly edited in Capture NX2, Lightroom and Photoshop.

Has anyone here noticed that some shots directly uploaded to DCRP are soft? I've been seeing it for quite awhile. Just in some shots, not others. I haven't been able to find a pattern. Today I noticed it in this thread. Two of the shots I posted today are soft. The third is not. None of the shots I had previously posted in that thread were soft. I'm using the same sharpness settings, etc.
Am I crazy
Anyway, I'm double-posting this to see if it turns out soft, too. I had my first "professional" shoot. This shot is a little hot on her shoulder and arm, but it's my favorite of the bunch anyway.
50mm, 1/80, f/4.5, ISO 200
C&C appreciated as always!
edit: yep, it's soft

Here's 2 bugs, I'm not deliberately chasing your post themes Tomcat, I almost posted em last night but I feel guilty for too many images in a day.
Oh and any observable softness is obviously this site and not the photographer
Edit, shot with the Tamron 90mm at probably F16 as advised (but possibly F22 as I'm still experimenting).
Handheld, remote SB600 (cam 45 deg left, 45deg up) and on cam flash both at 0 EV.
Backdrop wooden kitchen table and a bit of daisy leaf shot 1. Kids school folders shot 2 (which I don't like).

Dread Pirate Roberts ~ seeing shots like these are just fueling my
desire to get a Tamron 90mm macro!! (I assume these were taken using that?)
