Hey all, I'm new at posting here. I thought I would post one of my few first shots I have taken with my D80.

Quick Background: I'm a helicopter pilot by night, photographer by day. This is unfortunately my second tour here in Iraq. And I am on month 10 of 15 right now.

If you're in the army that should make you a Warrant Officer take care over there. a few more moon taking tips use spot metering, manual focus, and under expose a bit, this will allow you to bring back more detail with a editing program.

Also, any tips and suggestions for aerial photography as that is where about 80% of my photos will be from? The OH-58D Kiowa Warrior isn't the smoothest aircraft in the world.

Maybe a 300mm VR lens? The only problem with that is that I can't justify to the wife a lens for more than $1k. Used maybe?

You can take photos while you are flying that thing?

Only one person flies (right seat), the other person (left seat) operates the TV/Thermal sensor on top. I took this photo while on the ground sitting in the left seat.

It is basically just a 'souped' up Bell 206 (news helicopter); minus the 2.75" rockets, .50 cal machine gun and hellfire that we have.

that heli shot is awesome bgrablin. good luck taking a picture From one though.. my best friend is flying C-130's in the Marines right now. he told me he'd take me up one day with him.. i can't wait..

anyway, here's a more peaceful one.. lol. our neighbor's horse just had a baby and my wife has been begging me to get a photo of him..
