Cool bug shots and nice smile on the dog. Not too bad of an RC shot either--good practice for panning. Attached is one of the photos I took at Antelope Canyon yesterday--still looking through them though most have "people" walking through my shots, intentional or not.

great shot TNB. i like the fact that there are people in the image funnily enough. the latest lake pano you have on flickr is also awesome. i'd appreciate if you stopped tempting me with the fisheye please. enough is enough so pls cut it out.

I haven't been taking a lot of photos recently, but here is one from last weekend while out doing some RC racing. I would love to be able to afford a sharper lens.

i dont know if RC racing is the best place to test lens sharpness. its more of a test of technique, lens AF speed etc. i;d say most "non-sharp" photos are due to the user not nailing the shot, (or the lens not keeping up with the action), RC racing must be one of the hardest events to nail focus on there is. i've never tried to shoot them, but i've seen a coupple of events and those things friggin move so eratically i wont bother trying. lol

Still trying to learn what the best settings for flash are. I want 1/200 to freeze motion and f/2.8 for max ambient light and shallow depth of field. I'd like f/4 for a bit more sharpness but then the flash has to compensate and kick out more power.

Still learning I guess.

Haha.....to tell you the truth, I tried using auto focus, but it wasn't working out for me. I ended up with crystal clear shots of the background. I used manual focus with better results. I also reduced my aperture to increase my DOF and have a better chance of getting it in focus. I'm pretty much a beginner on this type of photography, but it's fun to shoot.

Thanks. I've looked at countless photos of various places and I still can't figure out why there aren't more photos taken with the fisheye.

I'd have to agree for the most part--after all, some people trap focus, some pan, and some may practice both techniques. A fast lens does help when the sun is starting to set or when shooting indoors. And although I am supposed to have a couple of R/C photos published soon if they haven't already beeen published (I don't subscribe to any magazines), the attached photo is still one of my R/C favorites (it made a cover in March 2007). When I took the photo, the R/C heli was so close that I had to wait for it to "back off" from my lens.

I would try shooting in Shutter Priority first unless you are shooting in low level lighting or trap focusing.
