One thing though - when you sign your name on that actual photos, is that because of copyrighting? If not, i would take it off the photo!
Otherwise, lovely composition.
Another thing is that WB can be changed in Lightroom (if you have it) with Jpegs...apparently not as flexible as RAW. Just in case you need to that is!
No. I have started using Corel Paint Shop Pro X2. It is far more realistic and has a fantastic feature for aligning photos. ALthough i love photomatix (and am not saying I wont go back!), it is hard to control to make it look realistic and not HDR (if you know what i mean!).
Download Corel and give it a shot. Its really easy and only has two sliders! One for brightness and the other called "clarify" (which is the business end of things )
In fact, I am using this over photoshop CS3 at the moment. its just easier. However CS3 is far more powerful. Changing things in Corel takes longer to preview than in CS3. But for beginners, I would recommend Corel
Herc Re the sig I'll make it less obtrusive but I copied the concept from the good folks on this site and thought it was a good habit to start. I also post a bit on the small side for the same copyright reason. One day when I get better I'd like to be semi professional so I think of a sig as practice. I know everyone has these ambitions and probably hardly anyone sells an image but I live in hope. The business sig is obviously not Dread Pirate Roberts
Rooz that was dusk, just as the sun was crossing the horizon on camera left. The shot is facing North on a long N/S lake but very narrow E/W. The houses each side E/W make a good composition in that direction challenging. Why do you mention a longer shutterspeed, should I go for a water effect or are you noticing lack of DOF?

i have tried using it in CS3 and all my attempts really suck.
I'm not great at post process myself but I'm learning. Between the two I'd rather be great at the camera end of things like you mate and weaker in post
Darn you've got good eyes. As the picture taker I hadn't even seen the ripples. Now that you point it out I can't not see it. Yeah it'd look better without them. Oh well serves me right for not being a boy scout and taking all my gear on my evening walk.

i dont know if i could cope with failing at another software program. lol
on a serious note, i really do have to learn some more cos i feel its really limiting me right now and its gone from being a bit funny to being annoying as hell. anything other than the basics like levels and curves, basic cloning and USM and eveything i touch turns out bad. besides which, my laptop has almost gone on many unscheduled journeys out the window...

Rebuke me for posting two images today but it's 10:30pm and I'm keen.
Wish I'd taken the tripod for this too but I still like it even though the DOF is too shallow by far.
