I agree, I usually stick to 600 high so the width ends up at 896 from my D80. That way people running 800x600 (ancient
) won't have to scroll around just to see the whole image. I run 1920x1200 so a photo that is small to me could be huge for most others.

I keep trying to resize it but it still seems to stay enormous. I use the edit, resize function and even when I reduce it to a width of 4cm it expands the size of the forum page by about 4-fold. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
You need to resize in pixels. In the computer world, inches, centimeters etc mean nothing as it is probably just changing the DPI (print size).
