    I was able to take some night shots using my new D300 last friday after work.

    I like the way it fills the frame, the tones... well just everything.
    One thing I'm not sure of though is mums hairclip, is it better without?

    I don't know if you remember my post of some Tawny Frogmouth owls from before I bought the DSLR. We'll here's the same shot with a "proper camera". What a difference, they look like owls and not sticks this time.

    These are wild owls. I've found a spot where they hang out all day everyday, they've been there the last 4 times I've bush walked with my daughter.

    200mm on the 18-200VR. Spot metering the owl, -1EV, cloudy day, F/8, IS400, 1/125sec, hand held.

    wow, thats awesome. i'd LOVE to get these guys my way. you've really got that d300 humming now. there is a massive leap forward in in your shots. really well done mate.

    It was a lot of hard work manually bracketting/chimping etc but I enjoyed it. My daughter got a bit impatient at the end though.

    I'd expected you to have a dig at me saying "at least they look like owls not sticks".
