Lovely framing K1W1. Don't take this the wrong way (I do genuinely love the shot) but could anything be done about the highlights?

Here's another permutation for a sunset at my local beach.

RE: highlights. only thing that could be done is use HDR. only so much DR a dslr can have.

I never take things the wrong way.
It was one of those conundrums we all have in this country of cloudless skies and bright sun.
I tried exposing for the light, exposing for the shade, exposing for the sky and a couple of other variations and this was the one I liked the best. When I exposed for the sunlit parts the colours in the shade didn't do much for me.
Besides any other reason this shot had the best positioned vehicle, when you can't see them coming and they are doing around 100kph through that "window" it was really push the shutter and hope. Then to cap it all off I was wearing a suit and stopped while travelling back to Melbourne from Ballarat even though I was slightly late already for a meeting I had scheduled in the office.

    Here's another angle

K1W1, I like really like the composition of the old bridge with the truck shot. That is one of those shots that may be better on a slightly overcast day so it would reduce the dynamic range. HDR would work if they parked the truck for you.

Dread, I love that affect with the sunset. Could you boost the blues to give it more contrast between orange and blue? Maybe cloudy +1 or +2 on the WB? Beautiful shot.

Here is my contribution for the day. I had the day off and was running some errands. I had my camera with me when I saw these horses in a field playing. Of course they stopped playing when the saw me so this is all I was able to get.
