good idea, average execution. just couldnt get him to give me an unobstructed shot with the blue flowers in the background. this needed more dof aswell. very frustrating.
sb600 used rear facing away from subject to illuminate blue flowers, R1 used to expose butterly.
no, the background and clours are not photoshopped btw.

Thank you - you're all too kind.
Believe it or not there is ZERO post work on the shot. I just reduced the image size and typed DPR onto it. I even forgot to sharpen it like I normally do! I think the unusual exposure is because I set the exposure metering and focus point onto the top handrail (simply because the cam wouldn't autofocus under the jetty, not enough narrow lines I suppose.
The real work was in sorting through and throwing away the other 100 shots that didn't quite hit me.
I really wish I'd shot it raw rather than large normal jpg. I'm thinking of printing it largeish and putting it on the wall as my first shot that worked. It'll be the $4,000 wall decoration
Oh by the way nice shots everyone. Rooz having failed myself to get a great shot from an almost stationary (nearly dead?) grasshoper I can start to appreciate your work. Tricky subject, beautifully composed. I really love the background and those antennae.

If I moved to Florida it would be to Jacksonville. They have a much better football team!
