still can;t get a shot i like of a hoverfly. i think this one has too much dof and makes it a little too clinical losing some of the character. interstingly this is what most people seem to like. maybe i'm wrong in the shallow dof i normally like. tried maybe 20 shots of him hovering but still can;t get the shot. keep trying i suppose.

i sprayed some mist on this guy a few minutes before hand to try and get a shimmer off his wings with the strobe. looks like it worked quite well and it was hot enuf today for him to be grateful i think !

sb800 close top left. sb600 front right. sb800 should have been positioned lower shooting up at his eyes.

incidentally, this is what the setup looks like

Amazing macro's Rooz, must really take some patience to shoot insects. Sadly it's winter here so no insects to photograph .

I bet if you flash all those flashes at once you'd be able to see it from space .
I'm getting annoyed with the onboard flash on my D40, need to get a SB400/600.

LOL. I guess I'll slack off and post a soccer photo from yesterday. I thought about cloning out the spare feet, but I was too lazy especially since I won't print it and have a lot of other photos to check out.

Although I'm not into bugs, I do like your shots. Keep it up.

    K1W1,
Are you bribing that guy with treats or what? He looks like he is after something.

From yesterday afternoon--timing's off, but it is cleaner than those "contact" photos I took across the entire field since this ones only about 3/4s across the field. Where's that longer lens.... I wish.

There were 25 bikers sitting under their tree having a barbecue. The parrots were giving not particularly subtle hints that they wanted us to leave so they could investigate the left overs. Whilst they are not tame they are quite happy to sit within 5 or 6 feet of humans and let you know that they think it's their feeding time.
