    First Post

Hi, this is my first post. As a birthday gift my husband recently bought a D40 for me (which I had been coveting for months) and I absolutely love it. When it comes to photography I am an amateur, but having read 'Understanding Exposure" I have been experimenting with Aperture priority.

My first contribution is of my parrot, Bandit. I'm having a heckuva time trying to resize to the proper upload size of only 230kb without losing too much image quality. Below is a 100% crop of his eye from the original. The larger version I have on Flickr is much nicer, but I'm not sure how to create a direct link to it, so my photo will show up properly in the thread.

    Exif: (18-55), 50mm, f/8, 1/60, ISO 400, handheld.

C & C most welcome - no matter how harsh, as it helps me learn.

    Nikon D40, Nikkor 18-55mm II, 55-200 VR, 50mm 1.8D, ML-L3 Remote.

r3g, that is an awesome shot. Was the glow added in PP? I know you can get something similar to that with Picasa.
