    Tcadwell,

Don't know if I'm too late or not but I was going to comment on the hair fly aways too. They distracted me more than the light off the lips.

I think it's a great shot. I hope to be able to do that well when I take pictures of my kids.

P.S. I like the paperclip picture! Who knew something so simple.....

    This is a repost.

I took it when out on my motorbike one day & saw it in my mirror.

    Thanks for all the opinions!

Ok, the two-second touch up to fix the lips, and nose was done on all versions of the photo. The static results on the hair was also touched up, with pretty much the same method. Not sure until the prints come back - how good of a job I did on that (whether blotches will show up on the black). I did not make the black - blacker. Simply because monitor calibration could make a big difference in the opinion there. My test prints off of my color laser (which does a great job at B/W prints) showed good blacks - while my low-end Epson Ink-jet got blotchy (no matte black cartridge)

As far as framing... I did find this the most challenging. My favorite crop was my 8x10 crop, but this is not what the application required. The 5x7 crop when restricted to get "head - only" either would chop off some of the hair (pic that was posted) or by shifting the crop would not "feel right" even with all hair, etc in frame. It could be my video framing background, but I am tending to prefer the eyes more centered in the frame, and a little "lead space" in the direction that she is looking (as in posted pic). To me it "feels" better. Now, all of that said, prints are being made of both framings @ 5x7 crop, and 1 8x10 - this crop allows a full "hair AND lead space" view.

I spent hours yesterday looking at professional shots from "head-shot" photographers from NY to LA. Dagg... I saw ALL kinds of different framing. Some I literally HATED! 8o)

Thanks again guys - keep posting the great pics!!

I needed a slightly bigger camera bag. I think I went overboard but at least this way I don't have to carry it on my shoulders.

I think I finally got something worth posting now. I was playing around with my extension tube and took this. Added a little blur to the edges in PP.
