    I'm like D70fan, way more time than money. Thankfully I was able to get most of the hardware I liked before I retired.

    Broody Duck

    Got this pic yesterday of a hen(?) Mallard setting her eggs. She has been there for around 4 weeks now, so should soon be little ducklings around. Can't wait.

    Ducklings go from cute toddlers to weird looking molting things fast so have the camera ready.

    Comment and Spring Birds

    Tim11;
    That black uniformed dude on the right edge looks a bit young to be an official, using teens for officials in youth games? Or is he older than he looks in the pic?
    With the final arrival of Spring we are now beginning to see some young birds, here is a shot of a juvenile sparrow just out of the nest and a female Cardinal, of a pair that appear to be nesting in a neighbor's bush. Still no ducklings, although I did get some shots of a large Canada Goose family (15 goslings!), Post some of them when I get them edited.

    You got it right. He's about 12, I guess. At that level of competition everyone involved is a learner - the player, the official, the coach; etc.

    Train them early, and expose them to the responsibility and they will be somewhat less likely to cause trouble during a game, having been there as an official themselves. (One hopes)
