and yet another great action shot. screw the lot of you bastards. i'm not posting in this thread again. i think i may post in the canon pic of the day thread where the standards are a little lower.
LMAO
First, we'd have to start a "Canon Pic of the day thread" for you to post in, which we've been too lazy to do all these years
You first see a photo with your mind, and then capture it with your camera!
Canon - EOS 50D | BG-E2N | 70-200mm f/4 L IS | 400mm f/5.6 L | Sigma - 18-50mm f/2.8 EX | 30mm f/1.4 EX | 150mm f/2.8 Macro EX | | Misc - 430EX | OC-E3 | EF-12 Ex Tube | Kenko Teleplus 300 Pro 2x TC | FotoFile Backpack AW | Lowepro Nova 3 AW | Tripod | Panasonic FZ5.
Snow where I live is rare and becoming more rare as we heat up.
This is the best snow for at least 10 years so excuse my excitement (kid in me). That's why I was outside 15 minutes before sunrise taking shots.
Nice shot Rooz, looks like you are going to have to stay in this thread.
Nikon D70s
Nikkor 50mm 1.8D (If you don't have it you need it)
Nikkor 18-200mm VR II
SB-600
Bogen/Manfrotto Tripods/Heads
NAS (D300, Nikkor 80-200mm (or 70-200mm)f/2.8, Tamron 90mm Macro)
my meagre attempt to feel like i belong in this group. pricks.
Great shot rooz... Tell me, is that the original size of the image, or did you crop the photo to zoom in closer? I have an old manual Nikkor 105mm Macro. I am disapointed with its minimum focus distance... its like I am almost a foot away from the subject and... if I could only get closer I could get some stunning close up shots. Also, Im thinking about getting some type of close up magnification tubes..any reccomendations~ im not sure about my old lens and compatibilty with a mag tube?

Thanks
thanks mate.
no, that is not a crop. thats as is out of camera, resized and framed.
actually my min focus distance is a tad further away with the sigma than your nikkor but the 150mm gives me more in the frame to make up for it. i think any macro lens at the 100mm kind of length has the same MFD. doesn;t this have to do with filling the sesnor to 1:1 so effectively all macro's are roughly the same MFD when taking focal length into account ? i recall reading something about this a while ago but i may be wrong or just not paying close attention, those tech details are a bit too much for me. lol
anyway...i have the kenko tubes which are fantastic and get you much much closer. i'm planning on using them tonite and can show you how well they work with a good macro lens. i also did a test with the tubes on a non-macro lens to show the difference here.
