    D70, you didn't teach him the rule of thirds on his first outing did you? He seems to have hit it on the money either way.

    Nope I have given him very few cues on basic photography, but try to point out the good and not-so-good. Along with the camera (and 2 lenses) I sent him Peter iNova's D70 book-on-disk, and apparently he's reading it. iNova covers a lot of Adams-esque basics in that e-book. Along that line I will suggest he head to the library and look up Adams books.
