First couple of shots with my D200.
Not exactly major league ball. Not even really good ball, but its close enough for our little town. Pardon some of the blown out highlights. I didn't notice that the EV was set to +3.
I am in a quandry. Where do I spend my photo budget. I have two choices the D5100 or the D7000. While the D7000 is more expensive and has more features, one thing that it lacks is the rotatable screen. I do NOT want a FX format sensor camera. They appear to have the same sensors (16Mp), but is that so? As they are about the same vintage, maturity of design can be assumed at this time. (They are as good as they are going to be via design changes etc.)Help guys post images from each if you can or relate experiences with the cameras, good or bad. Primary use would be nature, including large insects and sports. Irealize that this is not the best spot to post this but I didn't want to start a new forum just for this. Hope it is not too far off-subject.

Here is a shot of a pair of Green Darners . The female is laying eggs while the Male (blue abdomen) is clamped on behind her head. This pair spent several minutes at this spot and I was able to get many good pics.

Well I bit the bullet and did it. bought the D7000. Should be here tomorrow, Amazon Prime next day shipping. Also picked up Sigma 150mm f/2.8 Macro.
Congratulations! I'm sure you'll love it, as I do mine. Be prepared for a steep learning curve though, as there's many more options available than you're currently used to. I too preferred the smaller size of the DX body over full frame, and was prepared to sacrifice some IQ for the convenience of portability. However, the IQ from the D7000 (especially at high ISO's) is still excellent, imho.
I doubt you'll see any difference between real life shots taken by the D5100 and the D7000. Both cameras demand good glass for the best results though.
I looked at your dragonfly pic and thought to myself: "Why does this guy need a new camera when he can get such spectacular results with what he's got?" But then I realised what a silly question that was -- when there's money burning a hole in your pocket, it has to be spent!

Let us know how you get along with it
Another benefit of the D7000 is it has Depth of Field Preview - usefull with close ups
