You may remember back in April I posted this photo of autumn grape vines:
Well, I'm pleased to say it's managed to make its way into the ABC's Weather Calendar for 2012 -- for the month of April! The thrill of having a photo "published" is only tempered by the knowledge that I'll get nothing for it from the stingy ABC. Oh well, at least they gave me two free calendars!
PS Please excuse the crappy colour balance in the second photo -- it was a q&d taken under compact fluorescent lighting, for which I still haven't worked out what the white balance setting should be.
Nikon D7000 and a bunch of Nikon stuff — oh, and some Canon p&s's too
Congratulations - do you get any credit on the calendar anywhere?
Yes -- there's a summary of all the photos plus the photographers' names inside the front cover, and on the right-hand side of each month's page is a tiny portion of the picture, the title and the taker's name. If you look closely you can see all that in the second photo I posted.
I originally submitted the photo to the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) for inclusion as a backdrop to the weather segment in their nightly 7.00pm television news broadcast. Each night they choose a different viewer's pic, and then they choose 12 of those photos for next year's calendar. So, to be included as one of the 12 is quite an honour I reckon!
I signed a waiver foregoing any rights to payment from the ABC for their use of the photo, so I have no quarrel with them on that score. It's just nice to think that during April next year, quite a few people (I have no idea how many) will be gazing at my photo every time they write on or check their calendar

Most of the Melbourne shots are from the Melbourne ABC weather Flickr group. I think I've had two used from there.

I was lucky enough to have a pretty good seat for the American try against Australia. Sadly I had to leave the game shortly thereafter, but the score was 10-5 at the time, I assume the Americans pulled out the upset.
Got some seats for the All Blacks against Canada this weekend! The Rugby World Cup is a lot of fun.
