Thank you. As far as contrast goes, I try to keep it as close to the raw file as possible, as high contrast only ruins details. But some times I go with the mainstream look at bump it up. I hate myself everytime I do, but the attention whore inn me forces me to do some popular type of editing, instead of what I like myself, sometimes

ANP: Thanks! I like the 70-300VR. It's just a shame it's a bit too short for me, so I have to conicder my options for 2011. I really need a 400mm, but there are no good lens options without breaking the bank so I'm actually concidering getting a D7000 to use exclusively with the 70-300vr (let the crop factor do its magic)

This was a tough climb with camera and tripod, I guess a 45 degree slope over boulders with a risk of snakes. I'd intended to climb to the top of this hill and await sunset. However the ground was so rough (and I forgot my torch) that I left as the golden hour was starting.

For those in more civilised parts of the world, in this bit of Australia you wouldn't see another person on the nearby road until mid the next morning.

Who said power lines imply ruined pictures ?

A pity I had only my P&S with me - which was not capable of any manual controls at all...

Shouldn't that be in the Canon picture of the day thread?
