This is not going to end well for my bank balance. You were the influence behind me buying the 105VR and 50f1.4G. I've been eyeing the 24-120 since its release. Give us a quick review if you have the time (I doubt it though, having to take care of twins).
over the weekend i'll give it a good run if the weather is good. not much to say about it really. very well built, VR, perfect range, very sharp at f4, relatively light and compact. if there are any major flaws with this lens i'm yet to come across them.
keeping in mind i'm talking about it in the context of what it is. its not a 24-70, doesnt have the 24-70 "pop" or sharpness or AF speed but its a joy to have a great quality walkaround zoom with great range.
here are some size comparisons:
and for comparison to a couple of other lens'.

This is just showing off and making us poor people feel awful. I think I'm going to start a "Lets get Rooz banned" poll if this continues. Think how much better the bank balances of the rest of us will be
Don't get rid of the 24-70 Rooz, you'll miss it. Atleast I miss mine. Maybe I'll get the 24mm f1.4 and 35mm f1.4 to complement the somewhat sorry lineup I have now, and I won't miss it?

we are thinking alike. the 24-70 is going cos i expect the 35/1.4G to be superb. have never much liked using the 24-70. how are you finding the 16-35 ?

Here is one of several shots of the local river after some 5"+ of rain this last Thursday. That area to the right, where the tree is is normally about 5-6' above water and now( Fri 10/1/10) has at least 18" of water there. I am standing on an artificial butte that serves as a place where High tension towers receive the lines from across the river. Those are the shadows on the water. The right bank was my fav place to shoot this past summer.
