    Fantastic shot ANP! WOW! I know lightening shots can be difficult, so how long did you have to sit there with your aperture wide open?

    you're shooting at 1.8 which is a very shallow dof and its not really the lens' sweet spot. i'd be stopping down to f2 or 2.8 even better, you will notice a significant improvement in dof and contrast stopped down a little.

    there is nothing at all wrong with the flower shot you just posted from a focus/ sharpness POV imo.

    goes without saying that shooting in raw will give you better all round images and more control.

    Ok. Tomorrow is my second shot at shooting some good grand canyon photos! wish me luck and i'll be back in a few days to share what hopefully is a much better collection that the previous trip!!!
